James Webb and Hubble telescopes

The James Webb telescope and Hubble are both amazing telescopes. Some of you may think that the James Webb is just a better Hubble, but these two telescopes have many differences and can work together to increase our understanding of the universe. The first difference in design is their wavelength. The James Webb telescope can see infrared while Hubble sees visible light, a little ultraviolet, and a little infrared too. This will give different views and see different stuff. Especially since light from distant objects can get redshifted, becoming inferred light even though at first they had a longer wavelength Another difference is their mirrors. Although both telescopes are reflecting telescopes meaning that the telescopes uses a primary mirror gather and focus light with a concave (bowl shaped lens) mirror then reflects it to a secondary mirror which then directs it to an eyepiece or a detector. Now the image is shown and can be seen by you. Anyways onto the differences with their mirrors. The James Webb telescope has a much larger mirror (6.5 meters) to Hubbles 2.4 meter primary mirror. This means the James Webb telescope can collect more light than the Hubble telescope. This will allow us the see objects that are significantly fainter than what Hubble can see. But if the Webb telescope wants to capture more infrared light, it needs to be cold(-220 degrees C to be exact), so it has heat shields,  Hubble maintains a temperature of 70 degrees. Webb is further from Earth than Hubble. Webb orbits the Sun (but shields itself from its thermal energy) along with Earth while Hubble orbits the Earth. If the Hubble has a problem, it can be serviced and was serviced when it got launched since it had a problem with the mirror. An astronaut was able to fix it, I suggest you do more research on that topic. Webb currently has no way to get serviced, but its design does not rely on servicing missions according to Nasa. Both telescopes are cool though. All i

n all, both telescopes will increase are understanding of the universe and will work very well together. I hope you enjoyed my blog, sorry for not writing for a while.
